HOUSTON (Aug. 22, 2022) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic announced today its plans to expand its Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center, renovating the existing building and adding a 135,000-square-foot building. The renovation and new construction will expand current specialty care services and add an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and a Cancer Center. Once completed in winter 2023, the location will be renamed Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Fort Bend Campus.

“We are excited to expand our Fort Bend location, which will provide even greater access to care for patients in the vibrant and growing communities of Fort Bend,” said Tony Lin, M.D., Chairman and CEO, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “The additional surgical care, diagnostic capabilities and cancer services alongside greater specialty care will be a game changer for the community, making it easier than ever for individuals and families here to get the care and services they need close to home.”

The new ASC will expand access to surgical care in Fort Bend County with four operating rooms, three endoscopy suites and one procedure room to support interventional pain management and interventional radiology services. The ASC will also have capacity for 23-hour patient observation, expanding the variety of surgical services that could be offered in this outpatient setting. The new Cancer Center will offer a full complement of cancer services, including diagnostic and treatment options, infusion therapy, and radiation oncology.

“Fort Bend Campus will put quality specialty care within minutes of those living and working in Fort Bend. Once complete, the new campus will provide closer access to the care and services patients living in this area need without having to drive to the medical center,” said Kenneth Janis, M.H.A./M.B.A., chief operating officer, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “We’re looking forward to seeing our Fort Bend Campus come to life, to serve this growing community with the compassionate care our team is known for providing.”

The two structures will connect through a first-floor interior walkway – the combined square footage of 200,000 square-feet will be large enough for up to 75 providers in a variety of specialties. A new parking garage is also being built directly behind the new addition. The new construction at Fort Bend Campus will open with the capacity to add more than 35 providers offering medical services in a range of specialties. After the renovation and construction projects are complete, patients will have expanded access to comprehensive adult and pediatric primary and specialty care. Access to the current complement of specialties will be enhanced, adding capacity in Anesthesiology, Orthopedic Sports Medicine, Podiatry, Orthopedic Surgery, Palliative Care, Spine, Pain Management, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Urology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Audiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology and Optometry.

Fort Bend Campus will continue to offer a robust complement of ancillary services and will expand on current services, including expansion of the on-site Kelsey Pharmacy, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging services — including 2 MRI machines (1.5T and 3T), a 64 Slice CT and a 512 Slice CT, which provides capability for enhanced cardiac imaging, 3D mammography, DEXA, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine imaging.

The new Kelsey-Seybold Fort Bend Campus was designed by Kirksey Architecture. Gamma Construction is the general contractor for this project.
