Kelsey-Seybold’s Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center has moved one step closer to completing an expansion project.

The clinic’s leadership gathered for an Oct. 10 groundbreaking, joining community leaders as construction commenced on a 135,000-square-foot expansion of the center at 11555 University Blvd., Sugar Land, which will expand specialty care services and add an ambulatory surgery center as well as a cancer center when it opens in winter 2023.

The new surgery center will look to expand access to surgical care in Fort Bend County with four operating rooms, three endoscopy suites and one procedure room to support interventional pain management and interventional radiology services, according to the announcement. The surgery center will also have capacity for 24-hour patient observation. Meanwhile, the new cancer center will offer diagnostic and treatment options, infusion therapy and radiation oncology.

The two structures will connect through a first-floor interior walkway, according to the announcement. When combined, the facility will offer 200,000 square feet, space for up to 75 providers in a variety of specialties. A new parking garage will also be built directly behind the new addition. www.kelsey-seybold.com
