Fulshear’s low crime rate makes it the second safest city in the state, a new study says.
The study, based on crime data from the FBI, was released Thursday by SafeWise, a website that researches safety analytics and reviews safety-based products.
Fulshear has a population of about 17,000 and shares an extra-territorial jurisdiction with Katy. Fulshear trailed behind Trophy Club for the title of safest city in the study.
The violent crime rate in Fulshear this year is .3 per 1,000 people, the study shows, and 4.7 per 1,000 people in property crimes. There had been no reported murders at the time the study was published.
The overall violent crime rate in Texas is 4.6 incidents per 1,000 people. Property crime rate for the state is 21.9 per 1,000, according to the study.
Texas is ranked as the 11th highest state for violent crimes and the 13th highest state for property crimes.
