Fort Bend ISD’s Student-Run Auto Shop and Salon Open to Public This Saturday | Fort Bend Economic Development Council

Community members can take advantage of services at the student-run automotive shop and salon from Fort Bend ISD’s career and technical education program on Saturday, March 5.

According to a news release, the public event is slated for 9 a.m. to noon at the James Reese Career and Technical Center at 12300 University Blvd. in Sugar Land.

Both businesses will show off skills the students have learned this school year.

State inspections, oil changes and tire rotations/balancing are offered at The Shop at The Reese Center. Community members can schedule their services.

The Salon at The Reese Center offers basic manicures and pedicures as well as shampoo, condition and style. The salon recommends scheduling services in advance because walk-in appointments are limited.

The shop and salon are Enterprise Learning Labs students operate as businesses which are open to the community and that give student real-world experience while offering necessary services at affordable rates, the release stated. Lab managers oversee the operations. As students build their knowledge and skills during the school year, services offered broaden in their level of difficulty.
