Amazon to open new warehouse in Missouri City | Fort Bend Economic Development Council

Missouri City is getting a new one-million-square-foot Amazon warehouse in 2021.

The digital retail giant has been making a lot of moves in the Greater Houston area, opening an Amazon 4-Star brick-and-mortar location in the Woodlands Mall and a new sort center in Katy back in October.

“We’re excited to be expanding our network of operations in Missouri City,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s vice president of global customer fulfillment. “We are grateful for the strong support we’ve received from local and state leaders as we broaden our footprint throughout Texas."

The announcement was made on Twitter Monday.

The new facility is slated to provide 500 jobs to the area. The fulfillment center will pack and ship larger items such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment or rugs, according to Business Wire.

No timetable has been released for when the fulfillment center will open, or when they'll begin hiring employees.

With all of the new Amazon ventures in the Houston area, hopefully we'll all be receiving our packages quicker than ever.
